Qualify for a Business Credit Card

A lot of my friends work for companies and do not own their own business. When I tell them about offers from business credit cards, they get discouraged and say that they wish they had a business so they could get the perks. Well, most of them have their own business and don’t even know it!

A Business is an organization engaged in the trade of goods, services, or both to consumers.

Do you sell trinkets or books on ebay? You might be a business!

Do you sell old furniture on Craigslist? You might be a business!

Do you help your friends with logo designs? You might be a business!

When you talk to the credit card representative let them know that you make sales on Ebay, or design logos, or whatever you do for profit and would like to keep your business spending separate from your personal spending.

DBA (fictitious business name)

If they require documentation, you can easily obtain a DBA, or fictitious business name, from your county clerk’s office or with your state government, depending on where your business is located. There are a few states that do not require the registering of fictitious business names.

EIN (Employee ID Number)

An Employer Identification Number (EIN) is also known as a Federal Tax Identification Number, and is used to identify a business entity. Applying for an EIN is easy and free.  Do you need an EIN? If you answer “Yes” to any of the questions below, you will need an EIN.
